50 Minutes (10 tracks) of a live performance by Antenna Builder in Pittsburgh, PA on October 26, 2002. A|B features 3 members of CIC on this performance with 8Cylinder and Dave Good. Utilizes NO COMPUTERS. Antenna Builder is a shadow of the symbols and signs that populate the air we breathe. We inhale the body of the signals. The signals that occupy this space are a product of capital and take the form of the medias we consume and the advertisements we hear. As a shadow, Antenna Builder will use the air as our technology and as our tool. In each intervention performed by Antenna Builder, a new set of individuals create sound work with a central character transforming FM radio signal transmittance through gesture and location. The FM Theremin Transmitter is a sound interface device invented by Antenna Builder. Each sound creation is entirely dependent on the location of the construction and reception. All created sounds are transmitted and mixed with existing signals in the air of the space. The interference between the sounds already present and the pirated sounds created by the members of Antenna Builder mix and distort to become one frequency. The only sounds both viewer and participant are able to hear are the final mix of all these noises constructed in real time. The only amplification is of a small FM Receiver tuned to a chosen frequency. Viewers of the intervention can listen directly or through their own FM receivers where available.

79 Minutes from a live improvisation done in October 2001 in Barcelona, Spain at one of the oldest pirate radio stations there - Radio Bronka. This is a semi-minimalist, especially for CiC. This is definitely their best experimental recording to date. Final cut was mastered in Germany in late 2001. This may eventually see a full blown release - but maybe not.

Now this is what I call Multimedia! The Critical Art Ensemble (of Electronic Civil Disodedience) team up with other technologically inclined troublemakers for a book and CD package. The book chronicles (in four languages) the how to dos and why to dos of hacking and reprogramming childrens video games. With a political and educational vengence, the group takes apart the mindless crap embedded in the “Gameboy” and replaces it with interactive masturbation and street crime fantasies. CD contains software, schematics, and codes to duplicate the procedure plus ripping tracks from the band Creation is Crucifixion. All packaged in a fancy printed cardboart box. The most creative thing I’ve seen in years! (AK PRESS review 2001)
